Urban Village PJ

Urban Village is a mix-used development in suburban Petaling Jaya, combining boutique dining and arts spaces as well as a 200 key hotel, and 500 serviced apartment units. The 450,000 sq ft project anchors a corner along Jalan Semangat, establishing a dynamic presence along the district’s main throroughfare.

With a 200m frontage, the Urban Village works hard to create visual and physical porosity with its surrounding context. Retail and communal activities are wrapped around the full length of frontage, connecting with the scale of the street. A series of terraced gardens ‘bring the building to the ground’,  transitioning the parklands on the podium roof to the green spaces on the ground plane, resolving the pervasive podium car park both urbanistically and aesthetically. The result suppresses the bulk of the podium and increases biodiversity, while also resembling lush hanging gardens along a stretch of the neighbourhood’s busiest artery.
